Tuesday 29th November 2011
Branch members were in attendance at the funeral of 28 year old Private Matthew Adam Thornton of 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment who was killed in an IED explosion in Afghanistan earlier this month.
With approximately 24 standards from around Yorkshire on parade, I doubt that Darton, his home town had ever seen such a spectacle. The churchyard was full with ex-service groups and local residents mingling together. The Church bell rang single peels at 10 second intervals from 10-45 till Matthews body was taken into the Church. The service was broadcast to the mourners who were stood in the Church yard and the surrounding streets. RIP. Sad Day

July 30th 2011 Pea and Pie Supper
A very pleasant evening was enjoyed by a somewhat diminished number of members and guests at the pea and pie supper held at the TA centre Wakefield Road on 30th July . Vick is to be complemented for the effort he put in to get everything in place, we also owe a debt of thanks to Dave for setting up the room and kitchen facilities. We must try to make more use of the TA centre we have not had a bad function at any time there.
